Our PTO is actively involved in our children and our school. Our primary focus is to provide support to the students and faculty of Fillmore. The partnership between parents and faculty is so important to a successful school year. Our goal is not simply fundraising - fundraising is just one aspect of our organization, and a necessary means to the many, many ways the PTO contributes to and supports our school.
What does the PTO do? A lot! We sponser various events throughout the school year (listed on the Events tab), provide resources and tools to the faculty that is not normally included in the school's budget, and provide funding for the various and many needs of the school.
How do we do what we do? There is only one way we can accomplish any of what we do - with YOU. Parent volunteers play a vital role in our school throughout the school year, providing support and services to the students and faculty, while at the same time gaining a comprehensive understanding of your child's school community. Being active in your child's school is rewarding in so many ways. Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, children are more likely to:
* earn better grades
* score higher on tests
* attend school regularly
* have better social skills
* have a more positive attitude toward school
* complete homework assignments
Your children will love that you're involved - you'll get to know their friends and friend's parents. You might even make some new friends yourself! You will get to know the faculty- not just your child's teacher - and the better you know them and they you, the more enriching your child's education is.
And that is what we are all about - enriching our children's school experience and making each school year the best one yet!
